The Factor 001 CPU combines the outputs from this sensor array with external inputs from its integrated GPS antenna and the rider's heart rate monitor to build a real time picture of road conditions, rider effort and performance. Never before has this level of data acquisition been available. The x by y integrated display gives the rider customized feedback on that performance, while hundreds of hours of data can be recorded for later review. A built-in radio transmitter even allows real time telemetry, transmitting a full performance report. Just like a professional race driver.
At the heart of the Factor 001 performance monitoring system is its high-precision, real time rider power measurement capability. Sensors in and around the crank detect and record power output through the whole pedal stroke, to an accuracy of one tenth of a degree. Athletes can use this data to modify and maximize the efficiency of their pedal stroke, even to compare power differentials between left and right leg.
